Education

The Honeybee Education Program began when bee keeper Jennifer Bach received a message from her bees saying “If you want to help the Honeybees, teach children to love them.” This message inspired Bach to found the Honeybee Education Program, which has just received its Fourth year of funding from the Hawaii Island School Garden Network, East Hawaii Fund, Western SARE, and the Laura Jane Musser Fund. A Big Mahalo to our grant funders and volunteer support! We really coulldn’t have done without you.
This year our program is spreading out to the neighboring Islands (Maui, Oahu, and Kauai). Please check our calendar for updates when we are on your Island.
This years’ funding is focused on farm tours and schools garden presentations. We will be creating a model pollinator garden at Honoka’a Elementary this year!
Public awareness lectures are also offered to adult organized groups. The Honeybee Education Program is dedicated towards the preservation of our most important pollinator.
